The renovation scale here is unlike anywhere else in our service area. We have executed Backcountry kitchen builds that involve 22-foot ceilings, dual La Cornue ranges, custom plaster hood surrounds, butler's pantries, sculleries, and walk-in refrigerated pantries — projects that take the better part of a year from permit to punch list.
Backcountry clients typically engage us for our full design-build service: we handle everything from architectural drawings and permit filing through cabinetry fabrication, stone installation, plumbing, electrical, and final trim work. The fixed-price contract is especially important at this scale — our clients want certainty in their budget even as the scope of work is complex and the material specifications are demanding. We have the production management systems and the trade relationships to deliver consistently at the Backcountry level.
Permitting for Backcountry Greenwich properties runs through the Town of Greenwich Building Department, with frequent involvement from the Planning & Zoning Commission, the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency, and occasionally the Greenwich Conservation Commission. Properties on large lots with significant grades, mature trees, or proximity to waterways require experienced guidance through these processes. We have navigated all of them.
